Dr. Xaverie Benedict is originally from Lemont, Illinois. She completed her undergraduate studies at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. She attended medical school at the University of Pikeville- Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Benedict joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of working in rural medicine with a focus on mental and behavioral health. Dr. Benedict's mother is a nurse, so from a very young age she has shown interest in medicine and wanted follow the same career path. In her free time, Dr. Benedict enjoys spending time with her fiancé and animals. She also loves to explore new places, go thrifting, and enjoys wine tasting.
Dr. Fedwa Lutfi is orginally from Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. She attended medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica.
Dr. Lutfi joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of becoming a family medicine hospitalist. She is motivated by the high demands for physicians in her hometown and the problem solving and investigative side of medicine. In her free time, Dr. Lutfi enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her husband, son and extended family.
Dr. Mary Nguy is a native of Irvine, California. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and Neuroscience at the University of California-Riverside in Riverside, California. She attended medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Nguy joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program in hopes to utilize her graduate and medical degree to pursue her interests in emergency medicine, urgent care and international and preventative medicine. Her decision to become a physician was largely influenced by her values and work in underserved communities. In her free time, Dr. Nguy enjoys traveling, outdoor and thrill-seeking activities, photography, reading and learning new languages.
Dr. Chase Noel is a native of Barbourville, Kentucky. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. He attended medical school at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee.
Dr. Noel joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of practicing family medicine in rural Kentucky. In his free time, Dr. Noel enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons.
Dr. Diana Tacelosky is a native of Frackville, Pennsylvania. She completed her undergraduate studies at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of the MD/PHD-Medical Scientist Training Program at The Pennsylvania State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Tacelosky joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of improving the health and wellness of patients in rural communities. She hopes to apply her graduate school training in opioid pharmacology to treat substance use disorders. In her free time, she enjoys listening to blues, rock n' roll, and jazz music; attending concerts; reading American literature; running outdoors; and exploring the beautiful state of Kentucky.
Dr. Zachariah Claytor is a native of Lexington, Kentucky. He completed his undergraduate studies at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky with a B.S. in Biology and minor in Biophysics. Dr. Claytor attended medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Claytor joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the hope of one day working as a full scope family practice physician in an outpatient setting. His mom's experience, compassion and service as a family practice physician in Lexington has been his biggest motivator. In his free time, Dr. Claytor enjoys studying films and the art of filmmaking, reading, writing, traveling and going on outdoor adventures.
Dr. Kelsi Evans Riera is orginally from Faribanks, Alaska. She completed her undergraduate studies at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington with a B.A. in Biolgy and a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Riera completed medical school at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
Dr. Riera joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of one day providing holistic health services to her community. Her mother and physicians in Mozambique who performed whole-person care to the body, soul and spirit are what motivated her to become a doctor. In her free time, Dr. Riera enjoys spending time with her husband, Leo, and friends, enjoying nature through mountain biking, traveling, flying, snowboarding/skiing, hiking. She also enjoys cooking healthy food, playing soccer, and Jesus.
Dr. Alyssa Kozacek is was born in Somerset, Kentucky and raised in Gainesville, Virginia. She completed her undergraduate studies at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with a B.S. in Biology. Dr. Kozacek attended medical school at Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee.
Dr. Kozacek joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of being able to provide compassionate patient care within the full spectrum of family medicine. She has a special interest in behavioral, reproductive and LGBT health. In her free time, Dr. Kozacek enjoys animal rescue, gardening and losing to her grandmother at Scrabble.
Dr. James Lutz is a native of New Hope, Ohio. He completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University East in Richmond, Indiana where he studied Biology. Dr. Lutz attended medical school at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Dr. Lutz joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goals of one day opening a family medicine clinic in rural Kentucky and pursuing medical mission work in the U.S. and overseas. In his free time, Dr. Lutz enjoys playing chess, running and physics.
Dr. Rebecca Whitworth is orginally from Barbourville, Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate degree at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. Dr. Whitworth attended medical school at Unviersity of Louisville School fo Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Whitworth joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of practicing medicine in southeastern Kentucky, where she was born and raised. She is interested in inpatient medicine, procedures, international and local medical missions, medical education and outpatient medicine. Pursuing a career that allows her to make a difference for people of all ages is a big motivation for her. In her free time, Dr. Whitworth enjoys quilting, sewing, going on walks and spending time with her family and friends.

His biggest motivation for becoming a physician comes from wanting to be in a career that helps people in their utmost time of need. In his free time, Dr. Yakkanti enjoys sports like tennis and basketball as well as dance, movies and music.

Dr. Layman joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with hopes of applying his medical school training and education to positively impact the healthcare in his community as a family physician. Dr. Layman has grown up always wanting to be a doctor and after a clinical internship in high school, was certain that pursuing a career as a physician was the correct path for him.
Dr. Swathi Mohankumar is originally from Jacksonville, Florida. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences, Public Health & Psychology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. She attended medical school at St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies.

Her decision to become a physician was largely influenced by wanting to ease suffering, advocate for patients with health disparities, and make a difference in society.
Dr. Corey Morris is a native of McMinnville, Tennessee. He completed his Associates Degree at Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma, Tennessee, and received a B.S. in Biology from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. He attended medical school at Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee.
Dr. Morris joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of specializing in outpatient rural family medicine. He hopes to complete a fellowship program in Hyperbaric Medicine and provide wound care services in rural communities. Dr. Morris was motivated to become a physician by the desire to provide quality healthcare to underserved rural areas as well as underserved communities on medical mission trips.
Dr. Jaysie Smith is a native of Somerset, Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. She attended medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Dr. Smith joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program to improve the health and wellness of patients in her local community and focus on preventative medicine. She has grown up with the dream of becoming a doctor and participating in programs like LCRH's Health Career Explorers in middle school, and high school helped solidify her decision to pursue this career path. She is excited to return to Somerset and one day take care of patients right here, at home.
