Dr. Shaelyn Dixon is a native of Hazard, Kentucky. She completed her undegraduate degree as Co-Valedictorian with a BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry and Religion at the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky. She completed medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Dixon joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the hopes of one day practicing as a hospitalist in a rural setting. She genuinely loves people and wants to provide evidence based medical care to allow her patients to have a long healthy life and spend more time with those they love. In her free time, Dr. Dixon loves spending time with her husband, dog, family and friends. She enjoys going to Church, reading fiction books and watching movies.
Dr. Maha Husain is a native of Plano, Texas. She completed medical school at Dow International Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan.
Dr. Husain joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of becoming a competent internal medicine physician and finds motivation in the trust and faith that her patients have in her to help them along their health journey. In her free time, Dr. Husain enjoys baking chocolate chip cookies, playing basketball and volleyball.
Dr. Madiha Jilani was born in Pakistan and raised in Rochester, Minnesota. She completed her undegraduate degree in Medicine and Surgery in Karachi, Pakistand. She completed medical school at Ziauddin University Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan.
Dr. Jilani joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program as becoming a doctor is in her family and she knows the appreciation and respect this profession brings. She believes being a doctor has the power to bring a change in someone's life and it gives her immense satisfaction to be in a place where she can be the cause of that positive change. In her free time, Dr. Jilani loves cooking Pakistani/Indian food and enjoys spending quality time with her husband and kids which includes painting, playing video games and traveling.
Dr. Autumn Justice is a native of Russell Springs, Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate degree at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky with a BSN and minor in Chemistry. Dr. Justice attended medical school at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
Dr. Justice joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with an interst in both inpatient and outpatient medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Dr. Kathryn Knutson is a native of Granger, Indiana. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She completed medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Knutson joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program as she is interested in both inpatient and outpatient medicine and one day hopes to teach her patients self-confidence and skills to improve their own health. Dr. Knutson has wanted to be a physician since a very young age and credits her motivation to her family and friends who push her to be a better person and achieve her goals. In her free time, Dr. Knutson enjoys walking her greyhound, making new recipes with her husband, watching sporting events, and staying active with indoor cycling and hiking.
Dr. Chrystie Nguyen-Young is orginally from Blacksburg, Virginia. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virgina in Charlottesville, Virginia with a B.A. in Biology and a minor in Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Nguyen-Young attended medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Dr. Nguyen-Young joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program in July 2021. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, outdoor activities and watching reality TV shows.
Dr. Fletcher Younge is orginally from Bowling Green, Kentucky. He completed his undergradute studies at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky with a B.S. in Physics and a Masters in Business Administration. Dr. Young attended medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Dr. Young joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program with the goal of one day working and providing medical care in the same hospital as his wife. In his free time, he loves to read science-fiction and fantasy and write.
Dr. Sean Craze is a native of Elkview, West Virginia. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Beckley, West Virginia. He attended medical school at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
Dr. Craze joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of becoming a competent internal medicine physician and providing high-quality healthcare throughout the community. Dr. Craze's desire to become a physician was largely influenced by a physician who cared for him during a hospitalization for Meningoencephalitis when he was just 9 years old.
Dr. Emily Hayley is originally from Campbellsville, Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. She attended medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Hayley joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program in hopes to utilize her medical degree to pursue her interests in hematology & oncology in a rural healthcare setting. She chose to pursue medicine because of her passion for serving others and a love of science. Her parents strongly influenced in her career path by supporting and encouraging her to pursue her dreams, as well as instilling the value and importance of helping others.
Dr. Taylor Hermann is originally from Louisville, Kentucky. He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He attended medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Dr. Hermann joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of helping as many people as he can, whether that be as a hospitalist or specialist in addiction medicine or infectious disease. His motivation to become a physician is largely influenced by his desire to help others in various healthcare settings, including medical mission trips. He hopes to continue to provide quality healthcare in Kentucky and throughout the world.
Dr. John Kim is originally from Louisville, Kentucky. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended medical school at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee.
Dr. Kim joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of one day starting a private practice primary care office and participating in full-time medical missions. A mission trip largely influenced Dr. Kim's motivation to become a physician that he took to Kazakhstan, where he was in charge of first aid care. After a positive interaction with an elderly woman he cared for, he knew this career path was right for him
Dr. Hannah Smith is a native of Pike County, Georgia. She completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. She attended medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia.
Dr. Smith joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program in hopes to practice high-quality medicine in the hospital and emergency room setting. Dr. Smith has always felt a strong calling in her life to become a physician and desires to help people navigate some of the toughest times in their lives.
Dr. Nicole Tomczuk is originally from Norridge, Illinois. She completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. She attended medical school at the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Dr. Nicole Tomczuk joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with hopes of utilizing her medical degree to pursue her interests in pursuing fellowship training in cardiology followed by specialization in either interventional cardiology or electrophysiology. Dr. Tomczuk's parents are both nurses, so she was introduced to the medical field from an early age and developed an interest for health care. In her free time, Dr. Tomczuk enjoys skateboarding, video games, and raising three guinea pigs.
Dr. Luke Vroegindewey is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He completed his undergraduate studies at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. He attended medical school at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Dr. Vroegindewey joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of becoming a hospitalist or specializing in cardiology. He enjoys continually learning about the human body and hopes to apply his knowledge and experiences to provide quality, compassionate care.
Dr. Duncan Bennett is originally from Athens, Tennessee. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee with a focus on Microbiology. Dr. Bennett attended medical school at Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee.
Dr. Bennett joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of becoming a respected community hospitalist and ER physician. He states that his desire to do good and help others is what largely motivated him to become a doctor.

Dr. Fortenbery joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of focusing his career path as a physician into Nephrology. Dr. Fortenbery has always had a large interest in science and the practical appliances to help those around him, which led him to following the path to becoming a physician.
Dr. Adam Gehlhausen is originally from Frankfort, Kentucky. He completed his undergraduate studies at Eastern Kentucky University with a focus in Biomedical Sciences. He attended medical school at University of Pikeville – Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Dr. Gehlhausen joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of becoming the best physician he can possibly be and to help those in need around him. His deep admiration of the profession is what motivated him to pursue the path of becoming a doctor.
Dr. Alexander LaDuke is a native of Glyndon, Minnesota. He completed his undergraduate studies at Minnesota State University Moorhead in Moorhead, Minnesota with a B.S. in Prehealth Biology and a minor in Spanish. He attended medical school at Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee.
Dr. LaDuke joined the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Residency Program with the goal of pursuing critical care medicine and fellowship in pulmonology. His appreciation for biological studies and love for people were great motivators to him following the path of becoming a physician.
